An Opinion on All Lives should matter!!!

ARE PROTESTORS INNOCENT?

Much is to be said about Black Lives Matter. The fact is they do matter. However, there is an interpretation that when someone says All Lives Matter that it is somehow against BLM. This is an incorrect assumption and those that think this way are not actually talking to the people that are saying it.

In the same regard are those that are saying All Lives Matter, really making an effort to talk to those that are saying Black Lives Matter? This is something that has to be talked about as well. What does #AllLivesMatter? It is actually what it is. It means all lives matter!

All Lives Mattering is about equality. It is about accepting that not only are those lives that are taken via police interactions, but it is about the lives of those that are in the streets, in the womb, and in each and every day actions that take place with each other.

We hear about "Black on Black" crime all the time. We rarely hear about "White on White" crime and it exists just as much as "Black on Black" crime if not more.

The racial disparages that exist with those that are locked up in prisons are real. It started with the demonization of certain crimes beyond the norm. It started in modern times when a "#Democrat" President named Bill Clinton signed into law the H.R. 3355 The Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 which lead to communities of color being locked in prison at higher levels. Historically this was something that could have been avoided if it was not for the closed-minded society at that time. I do not mean as racially closed-minded, but criminal reform needs to be done right and this bill did not look at other long term examples in the world of what works and what didn't work.

Are racial issues still a problem in the United States? We have come a long way. I would say they are not even close to what they were 60 years ago, 40 years ago, or even 20 years ago. Unfortunately, events have occurred that have caused that to be blurred in the last 10 to 15 years. In part, it is because of the media and in another part it is culture. Conservative culture has always wanted to bring unity and integration. This is why so many are grateful to a strong economy when we were not in an unfortunate pandemic. Economies are considered great when every race, creed, culture, or society is considered better off than they were in the previous economy. A previous president said we have to accept 1 to 1.5 percent GDP is the new norm. However, the current president has shown it is possible to get higher than this. This moving beyond the 1 to 1.5 percent norm into an average 2.5 to 3.5 percent growth helped bring all levels of society up in the United States including Asian-American, African-American, and even white to higher levels of economic prosperity.

In saying this, I want to state i have a huge dislike for saying Asian-American or African-American. It seems to be the cancel culture, the liberal norm, to say these things when realistically, this is actually something that causes a divide. If I go up to a person of color, why the heck am I going to think African-American, when everyone born in this country or that has become an American citizen, is just plain and simply an American. Not everyone looks the same and there is no reason for us to look the same. Realistically, in another 200 years, there is not going to be one way to completely say someone is racially different than the next person. At this time, there is a good portion of the population that in the eyes of most may be white, but are actually mutts. Racial genes have become blind in many ways. There are stories of someone thinking they are German, finding out they are Greek, or even in one case I had a chance to review, Scottish, finding out that they were in part of Spanish or Mexican descent, and this goes for others of white skin that have ancestry in Africa.

Most Americans need to remember, we all have ancestry from Africa. At one point when man first started, Africa was the seat of much of human populace beginnings. Evolution to certain environments changed us and the once known nine human species spread throughout the planet. (https://www.sciencealert.com/did-homo-sapiens-kill-off-all-…)

We are actually all kin to each other, we just don't have the full range of technology to identify how far back our DNA truly goes, but the current range of genealogy DNA testing is getting us closer.

Protesting is something that has to be done peacefully. If you damage buildings, destroy businesses, and unfortunately, even hurt or kill people, then this becomes not peaceful. Every person becomes identified as a looter, even if they were just peaceful and everyone around then was looting. Every person that throws a brick or burns a building, will cause the very person that is protesting near them to be considered just as guilty as they are. As a society, we need to identify what it truly means to be peaceful. Stealing shoes and high-end electronics aren't stealing bread to feed one's family. Killing a white guy just because he is white and you believe he had white privilege, means you are a racist and now a murderer. Going after a police department or a federal building because you believe you need to make a point, is just violence and you deserve to go to jail like any other person that commits violence. If you kill a person of color, that is wrong as well. Killing a cop is wrong also. Race is an idea that divides and doesn't unite. If you were born here, it does not matter what race you are, you are an American and you deserve every opportunity that an American has.

School choice in one of those opportunities. If President Donald Trump wants to make it easier for students in one area of a town to choose to go to school in what they feel is a better area, then I say he needs to be supported.

I am now going to say something that you might not agree with, but I have to say it. Not only do #BlackLivesMatter as part of being #AllLivesMatter, but also #BlueLivesMatter. People want to blame cops for everything. This should not be the case. This year alone 65 officers were killed. (https://spectrumlocalnews.com/…/65-line-of-duty-deaths-amon…) 2020 should not be having cops killed. Cops are made up of, and I don't know a better way to put this, every race. It doesn't matter if a cop has what is viewed as white skin, or yellow skin, brown skin, or black skin, these cops are trying to keep the peace. You year statements like 98 percent of all cops are good cops. The fact of the matter is this is true. Liberal media only identifies when something bad has happened. It rarely identifies when good things happen. It doesn't identify when an officer goes out of their way to help someone.

What of police reform? You ask any good cop out there and they will tell you things are not 100 percent perfect and that they should be some ways of improving. For all the incidents that happen in this country where someone is shooting at a cop, or committing acts of violence where a cop has to step in, where it seems to have a disparaging number, is in the number of cops killed in the line of duty. One might argue that they know what they are getting into when they become cops, but that is a coward's statement. Police become police to keep the peace. They do not become cops to shoot people or to hurt people. They become cops to enforce the law. Even if the laws are imperfect.

I do agree there needs to be some police reform. We need more community involvement as their once was, but society also needs to learn and to grow. Additionally, we need to stop having a mentality of races all living in certain areas of communities. There need to be more people of color in those communities that are more ivory and there needs to more whites in those communities that are more ebony. I do not believe the Liberal mentality is going to drive this. I believe it actually may continue the disparages because history shows big government is more about giving out the handfuls rather than individuals having the opportunity to earn a whole lot. History shows this as much as it shows Socialism has never worked. Communism as pure communism has never worked and even those societies like China that have some capitalist overtones it is still driven by a totalitarian communist government rule.

This peace is about my opinions and overall thinking. It is meant to try to be a realistic view. I have tried to be politically correct where I can, but overall I have to admit it is hard to be politically correct when as humans we are generally not politically correct animals.

We are the dominant lifeform as most of humanity sees it. Although there are more bacteria, more ants, and even more spiders than we can imagine. If believed though, some science would lead us to believe is if spiders wanted they could eat every human on this planet if the joined-up within a year. Not a great thought, but you never know when one species might want to rise to the top of the food chain and become dominant. Humanity just needs to evolve further so we can remain the dominant species, but with heart and kindness driving that evolution. Humanity may not be a forever species and at this rate, we may not remain at the top of the food chain, so let us try to find some love for one another now. Let us root out the bad when we can, but do it in the right way that leaves the good in who we are and who each other should mean to each and every one of us.

This may be my opinion, or ramblings depending on how you feel, but I say this with love for all humans past, present, and future.

Fishing is life!

Hey everyone,

I haven't posted in a while.  Still fishing like crazy🤪

Lots of blue gill caught.  Right now I am stictly catch and release.  Just a sports fisherman.

During the pandemic, it has been hard to find things to do.  Fishing is calming and frustrating at the same time.  Just waiting for that super awesome big one!! I think it has become an obsession.  I don't act like it is, but trust me it is!

The blog doesn't show what I look like sonI thought I would put up a selfy.  A little sunburned and relaxing.
If you ever want to share fishing stories or pictures of where you caught that big one you will always remember, feel free to send them to me with pictures.  I would live to share it on the blog.  It doesn't pay anything, sorry not rich.  People love a good fishing story.  Share your story, recommendations on lures, and pictures.

Fishing is life, fishing is for you?

Fishing is beginning to grow nation wide as more and more people are looking for things to do that allows for #SocialDistancing.  With many things just now re-opening the requirements of "Social Distancing" and wearing "Masks" are still the recommended steps to minimize the possibility of getting infected with Covid-19.

Fishing allows for social distancing with almost no chance of infection.  Unless you are going fishing with people you don't know or haven't talked with in a long time, you can fish outdoors without wearing a mask.  So breath!!! Have fun when you are out.  Just remember if you are on a boat, stay safe.  Wear a life jacket if possible.  If fishing with kids, have them wear a life jacket that is their size.

However, always use a good fishing lure.  Especially when fishing for #Bass.

There are top water lures, worms, and more.  Just be ready when you get into fishing to have fun and catch one if these!

Fishing fun last week, and a warning

Fishing last week was an event.  In one evening of fishing I caught 7 blue gill, 2 Bass, and one catfish.  In one day last week it was a slow day I caught 3 Bass and two blue gill.

For the record I caught 10 at Lake Storey in Galesburg, IL.  The rest at Snakeden Hollow past Victoria, IL.

It was an awesome week for me.  I feel like I am becoming a better fisherman.

Warning: I messed up and didn't take sunscreen.

I have learned a painful lesson about sunscreen being a necessity!!

Happy Independence Day 2020

Happy Fourth of July!

Happy Fourth of July my friends.  I hope today is a safe and great day for you all.  For many of us we aren't celebrating it in a way we remember.  Today is a traditional day in America for many of us.  Whether we are rooted in the American history, the celebrations of our countries independence, attending fireworks shows or simply enjoying a family gathering this is the day that America celebrates her independence, our ability to do all the aforementioned things, because at her heart, in America, we are all free.

In the year 2020, we are not as free as we once believed.  We've all seen the effects of the global pandemic, many of us losing friends or loved ones as it's ravaged the world.  States were locked down, so to speak.  For months we were struggling with the new realities.  Gyms closed, movie theatres closed, bars and restaurants were closed and the hours and operations of essential businesses were changed, some for the foreseeable futures.

Many people found themselves faced with loss of income, loss of routine and I'd dare say the loss of purpose as the global economy came to a near complete halt.  While governments and leadership still struggles to cope with the aftermath of the pandemic, people struggle to reassemble their lives and find their way in the new world.  For it is a new world, ladies and gentlemen, whether we like it or not.

Just as things started to move forward and the numbers of new infections go down, a cop in Minneapolis and four of his cohorts brought about the downfall of American civilization as we know it.  In the midst of an infection plaguing the globe, an economic nightmare still affecting the country and an uncertain future, anger and violence began filling the streets of our country as the worst days in America played out on our televisions, in our papers, on social media and right before our eyes in some cases.

What the fourth of July should mean is the same thing that America, the Statue of Liberty and even Mt. Rushmore should mean.  They're symbols, symbolic reminders of what we were, what we are today and what we can be.  Many people won't try to believe that but, remember when you were young, still had ideals and dreams.  Things like fear of a pandemic hadn't frightened you.  Things like the color of someone's skin didn't matter to you.  Your friends were your friends, you sat by your neighbors and complete strangers and you all watched the fireworks, all sang or listened to the National Anthem and you all felt like a community.  Albeit, for some, it's only during the times of celebration and gatherings that you feel this way.  Then life returns to what it was, until the next year.

For me, the fourth of July is a historic date.  It's not only a date signifying the freedom of our land.  It's not just a day to remember the ones that gave for our freedoms; our freedoms to disagree, to revolt, to speak out against the slights of government or those small group of men who did wrong.  Today, I remember the good times and the thought of what we could be as a people in a country that stands for what's right, no matter how many times it misses the mark.  Today, I remember that  in my life I've I was raised to respect everybody, no matter the differences between us.  Today I remember that one of those people responsible was my dad, who was born on the fourth of July.

Happy Birthday Dad, it's been ten years and I still think about you everyday.
